Scale model of our new house

After our initial meeting with our architect I have been inspired to draw some more of my own floor plans. I have used his ideas for the ground floor, and then had a go at drawing the first and second floors myself.
Maybe I then had a bit too much spare time on my hands, but I have also made a scale model!!

Hockey World Championships

Another day, another World Championship event, only this time I am not competing in it! Also, an amazing change in the weather, so I literally have nothing to wear.

Fortunately Margs came to the rescue with a handy poncho, but although it kept the rain off it was still pretty cold.
We arrived in time to see the second half of the match between China and Korea, but although there was a goal each in the first half, there was little action in the second.

There was then a long gap until the next game, so we decided to leave, but Margs and Dave stayed on and apparently we missed a 12 - 1 thriller!

Brompton World Championships

I was a bit nervous, but once we got there I calmed down and got excited instead. Everyone was dressed up and there was a party atmosphere as we waited.
We lined up for the start and I had a quick chat with my neighbours. We all had last minute nerves about setting up the bikes and how far we needed to cycle.
There was a bit of chaos at the start as we had to wait until the fourth whistle before our section could run across the road to our bikes, but then we were off.
From the first second I loved it and we raced down The Mall, past Buckingham Palace, along by St James's Park and Horseguards Parade, and then back up the little hill to the start.
Daz, Elaine and Mark were together by the start and took photos every lap, and then Margs, Dave and Scott were cheering by Horseguards, so I chanced a quick wave every now and then.
It wasn't long before I was lapped by the leaders who were really charging along. I did a bit of overtaking myself, but all too soon it was over.
I collected my medal and goodie bag, and Daz brought me a gin and tonic to celebrate.
Finally, we headed to the pub for a few drinks, a debrief, and chat to a brightly suited fellow competitor.

Re: Building our own home

Great news, thanks for the update.
How exciting is the underground garage still on?

I should have blogged this about a month ago, but better late than never. We are going to build our own home, and this is where we are going to live, eventually.

Currently it is just a dry field, but fingers crossed, in a couple of years time it will be complete.
We had our first meeting with our architect today, so have a first draft to consider. We liked his plans and he had a couple of really interesting ideas, but overall his drawings were a bit careful. However, we are at the 'getting to know each other' stage, and he was very pleased when we said that we wanted a more radical look.
We had a good discussion and he has loads more ideas that he is going to incorporate.

Our next meeting is in a couple of weeks and I can't wait!

Putting in the mid day sun

Arrived at Edwalton Pitch and Putt at 11.55am. Paid by 11.59 and then out on to the golf course at 12.01pm. I expected it to be really busy but surprise, surprise, it was completely deserted.

But today it was just me and Daz in the mid day sun in the middle of a heat wave.
It was good though and nice to have no pressure from someone following us on the course.
We haven't been golfing since we lived in Brighton, but we did quite well.

I managed to get a par three and a worse score of seven, and Daz was consistent as always so won by seven shots.

Will definitely be going again soon.
