We are leaving Albania soon and on our last day our guide took us to an extra place that was not on the itinerary - the Albanian Niagara Falls.
This is a misleading photo as it has no scale, but it was a lovely place in the middle of the countryside.
He phoned the nearby café in advance to make sure that there was water in it, as in the summer it dries up completely.
Then on to the very pretty northern town of Shkodër. We liked it a lot as it was full of cafés, the streets were pedestrianised and there was cyclists everywhere.
We make a brief visit into a church where Pope John Paul II and Mother Theresa appeared together in 1993.
Then a castle on a hill outside of the town to stand on the edge of the ramparts with wobbly knees and check out the view.
A final stop for a beer by the lake and then back to Tirana.
To summarise the whole trip - excellent guide, great food, surprisingly varied places, scenery and weather, and interesting plum brandy.
