Bamboo Grove, Arashiyama

Tiny people or enormous bamboo??

This is an amazingly busy place just a few kilometres outside of Kyoto. We were here on a bright, but cool Tuesday in March, and I can't imagine how busy it will get on warm weekends later in the year.
The Bamboo Grove is one of Kyoto's top tourist attractions and all that you do is walk along looking at the huge bamboo plants, along with lots of other people.
It was good though.

The trunks are really strong and are used everywhere as fences and water pipes. We haven't seen it in Japan, but in other countries they use it for scaffolding on some very high buildings.
