The hills are alive.......

with the sound of music.
We met the nuns yesterday, and today we are up in the mountains and thinking of Julie Andrews. Unfortunately, I haven't bought a pinafore dress, but I am dancing around on a lovely Austrian peak.
Today we caught a cablecar halfway up the mountain behind our campsite and set off on a hike.
The weather was absolutely gorgeous, although I was worried about the temperatures at nearly 2,000 metres above sea level. I took extra coats, hat and gloves, but great news - we didn't need any of them.
After about an hour of hiking uphill we stopped at a ski chalet for a giant apple strudel and cappuccino (great value at only £4), then strode up to the top of the mountain and down the other side.
Despite there being numerous signposts and well used paths, we managed to get lost on the way down and had a steep scramble back down to solid ground.
Eventually we reached the sun terrace of another chalet and we sat in some style in deck chairs overlooking the view.
I set my camera up for a time delay photo and just managed to get us in the corner of the shot, but I was too relaxed to try it again.
We ordered beers and a very strange sausage and pretzel combo, which was interesting, but we won't be sampling it again.
We finally got home after some disastrous choices of footpaths through the forest, but all in all a grand day out.
