Halo Halo with cheese

At the suggestion of a regular reader - yes I do have some!  - thank you Susan - we tried Halo Halo.
It is a very popular Filipino desert and DJC Halo Halo restaurant in downtown Legaspi sounded just the place to find it.
It is highly rated on TripAdvisor and when we arrived it was full of families ordering one for everyone.
There were a few different choices, but we both decided on the 'Special'.
There were a lot of ingredients and we couldn't recognise everything, but it seemed to be made of shaved ice, creamy rice pudding, red jelly chunks, mashed purple kidney beans, coconut milk and little bubbly chewy things.
Apparently the speciality of DJC is that they add grated cheese on top, and surprisingly, it added a really good twist.
It was a mass of flavours, but not too sweet and sickly and with the ice it was very refreshing.
